As many of you know I use to be super into soaps. Stop right there you judgmental freaks. Like you don’t have some skeleton hidden that makes you odd…….okay maybe not. It really started back in college and I can totally see why I didn’t do well in school. BECAUSE I WAS SPENDING MY AFTERNOONS IN FRONT OF ABC TV. It started slow. I would get home in time for All My Children, then it was One Life to Live followed by my favorite General Hospital. This was my afternoon plus an afternoon ride or run. Good times.
I eventually got a part time job and quickly I fell behind but I knew these folks and their ways. It was like I hadn’t missed a beat after a couple of days. Even to this day I could probably jump back in and still know a majority of the characters. Kind of like riding a bike.
Time marched on and I joined the workforce. I gave up those good times but would get excited on sick or vacation days because I knew exactly where I was going to be from 11am - 3pm.
I grew up with a grandmother who was more into CBS soaps: Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light, and As the World Turns. I could never make the jump but slowly she worked her magic and I was sucked into the Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful.
Forwards in technology brought me back into the fold a couple of years ago. Tivo became my reliable friend. Now it was on. Although being a busy person I found it extremely difficult to manage more than 2 shows. So I would only watch Young and Bold. Eventually that became too much and narrowed down to Bold. I would race home in the afternoons to get ready to go ride and as soon as I hit my bedroom Tivo - on - select Bold - PLAY THAT NOW! I would get my 20 minutes of adult pleasure in lies, sensual love making, deceit, family arguments, death bed moments, secret affairs, and car crashes. Woa it was amazing. Plus people coming back from the dead was always a special moment for me. In the end I gave up TV for Lent this year and so my past time of adult pleasure went with it. It was hard but I hung in there. Upon that glorious Easter sunday I really thought the burning desire would return but it didn’t. I decided my love affair with soaps was gone. Maybe it will return maybe I’ll be my grandmother one day and persuade my kids or grandkids into the secret world of soaps.
I don’t think I’ve ever written this much about soaps ever. Well fast forward to todays news. Soap Net is starting a soap fantasy league. My mouth dropped. I would have killed for this 10 years ago. I would have never gone to class. I would have become Jack from Mr. Mom. Oh, and those moments when he is sitting around drinking beer watching soaps………..the best. So I’m debating whether I’m going to join. I’m so out of the game these days. I would be betting on dead folks and sensual love making. Here is the article from Yahoo.
How could you not just fall into the Click-Clack hype. I’m obsessed. No more yes answers. Its all Click-Clack.
Zack did you finish your weekly report?……Click Clack. Zack are you completely ghetto? Clickz Clackz..
Zack did you have a good weekend? CLICK CLACKZ
Will Gary freak when he sees this commercial? Click Clackz
Litterly one of the best TV ads I’ve ever seen. All it takes is one act of random kindness. This tic tac method could do this world some good.
So I was so pleased to see YouTube survive for a little bit longer with the recent announcement of NBC sending business there way. But as I think more about this could this blow up in YouTube’s face? With outright corporate sponsorship has YouTube lost creative control over their medium? It’s going to be hard to say. I look at it as well from a sponsorship perspective. Since NBC is the big dog on the block, where will ABC and CBS go? Google??? In my opinion, Google Video is a bust. Yes, they will have traffic but not YouTube traffic.
So I’m recovering in the bed this AM from a long week plus a sinus infection. Needless to say I’ve paid bills, fed the dog, and watched some TV. There is a great new channel called Slueth that has awesome 80s action shows running all the time: Miami Vice, A Team, Knight Rider, etc.
But I got to watching the A Team this morning and had the thought of who is the better creator of homemade things: the A Team or MacGyver? I’m stuck on it but one thing to consider is people. The A Team was 4 dudes, Mac was 1 dude. Maybe that was Mac’s issue because his side kick Jack was totally worthless. So who is the greatest TV innovators?
I love it when a plan comes together………..
So I know I’m just one of many chumps blogging about the whole South Park vs. Isaac Hayes fiasco. Hayes sites the lose of respect for individual spirituality. Ummm, well the show has been critizing all denominations for years and your just now getting wind to that, ey? Before I jump in I can’t say too much because I’m not too experienced in Scientologism but come on. I just don’t believe that response. My take is the wacko’s who run that joint out there in Sciencewood, CA cracked down on him or Tom Cruise threatened him. Yes, TC is like a personal Scientology hitman. Watch out. So needless to say Hayes ended his paying gig.
I hope the church is going to replace those lost wages. Help a brutha out ya know.
