What has happened to Kevin Smith

April 15th, 2006

I just watched the preview of Clerks II on YouTube and I have to say I’m first off dissappointed.  It’s not in black and white.  It looks okay but doesn’t have the feel as the first one.

Unknown but known

February 15th, 2006

Holy Cow.  Whitney over at Pop Candy blogged today about seeing Unknown White Male.  This is the movie or documentary I saw last year at Sundance.  Premise of the film is about a dude who experiences memory loss and how he re-adjusts to life.  The funny thing is is his life is completely different and so is he.  I advise anyone to try and see this movie.

I remember actually sitting in the theater and the director doing a Q&A after the show.  I freaking love Sundance.  I enjoyed NYC but seeing movies would have been cool.

Its the king of secret jokes

February 5th, 2006

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now but finally remembered to as it lays next to my laptop.  A week or so ago I bought "The Aristocrats" DVD.  Reason for purchasing was many reviews of how great it was.  The input for the movie was that all comedians tell this one common joke but in the middle is left up to the imagination.

With so many funny people involved I had super high expectation.  Dissappointment 101.  Yes many funny parts but overall I was watching the clock as to when this was going to be over.  Its worth seeing but I should have rented it before purchasing.

15 Loveeeeeeeeee

January 27th, 2006

Matthew_goode10Well, I couldn’t let this slip by without commenting on it.  It being the new Woody Allen flick Match Point.  Never really been an Allen fan but after seeing his last two films I’m beginning to see why he has such a cult following.  I’ll flat out give Match Point a 3.5 stars out of 5.  Super well done script.  Many small climaxes that keep you pulled into the story the whole time.  Character development was superb.  And as alway Scarlett Johansson is da bomb.  Jonathan Rhys-Meyers plays Chris Wilton as the main nucleus of the movie.

This is the storyline:
Tennis pro Chris Wilton takes a job as a tennis instructor and hits it
off immediately with one of his students, wealthy young Tom Hewitt. Tom
introduces Chris to his family and Chris falls quickly into a romance
with Tom’s sister Chloe. But despite the growing certainty that Chris
and Chloe will marry, and the enormous professional and financial
advantages that come Chris’s way through his relationship with the
delighted Hewitt family, Chris becomes increasingly intrigued and
eventually romantically involved with Tom’s fiancée, Nola Rice, a
struggling American actress. Their passionate trysts leave Chris in
danger of losing the wealth and position he has now come to enjoy. The
only solution to the dilemma seems unthinkable…
